The Surgeons’ Hall Museums in Edinburgh is one of the oldest museums in Scotland. Lots of history to be found here: The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was founded in 1505. The collection of medical oddities and surgical equipment began in 1699.
The old-timey medical equipment on display makes you very grateful you weren’t having surgery in 1699.
Originally developed as a teaching museum for medical students the fascinating collections, including bone and tissue specimens, artifacts and works of medical art. Inside, The Wohl Pathology Museum is home to one of the largest collections of surgical pathology in the world.
