Whether for business or pleasure, options for accommodation in the Big Apple are endless but our home away from home has always been The Westin Times Square. While planning a trip to attend The New York Times Travel Show held at the nearby Javits Centre, we discovered our preferred spot to hang our hats in the heart of the theatre district was undergoing a multi-million dollar refresh in the lobby, common areas and rooms. As a long-time Starwood Preferred Guest, we couldn’t be more excited to tuck into a Heavenly Bed after a long day of travel.
There are many reasons we keep coming back; from the delightful staff to the close proximity to so much action. The 800+ rooms and suites at the Westin Times Square have spectacular views of the New York City skyline, Empire State Building, the Hudson River and Times Square. Upon arriving, it was clear the exciting NY-style makeover has peace of mind as a top priority for guests. The newly renovated and upgraded Renewal Suites offers guests a truly one-of-a-kind in-room experience. Enhanced features include a spa shower with five body jets and rain shower head which transforms the space into a steam room, a Kohler whirlpool tub with chroma therapy lights and a designated exercise area with balls, adjustable free-weights and a floor mat. This room is perfect for guests who wish to maintain their health and wellness in a city so easy to indulge in.
Another new addition, The Foundry Kitchen & Bar located on the mezzanine level is warm and perfect for a business lunch or a quick cocktail before heading to a show. Copper pot accents and a collection of cutting boards add to the modern pantry-style decor. A breakfast buffet is available to guests each morning and for lunch and dinner – a small but diverse menu is available including a cheeseboard showcasing local New York State Farmed Cheese with local honey, house-made Chianti wine jelly and a selection of NY flatbreads.
There’s no shortage of excitement to be found in the heart of Broadway, but connected to the hotel is a 200,000 square foot complex on 42nd street. The E-Walk is open daily featuring family- friendly restaurants, 13 screen movie theatre, shopping and of course, a Starbucks.
The Westin Times Square continues to be our pick when staying Midtown – the location just can’t be beat and the service is friendly, thoughtful and always delivered with a smile. The new, updated look and feel is an added bonus and the lobby renovation is now complete.
BONUS: Check our a couple of our favourite nearby dining options:
Shake Shack – just a block away, it’s always our first stop after checking-in. A Shack-ago Dog and a chocolate shake hits the spot after a day of travel.
Danji – a modern 36-seat Korean tapas joint in Midtown NYC. Chef Hooni Kim fuses French techniques with Korean cuisine to develop unique dishes.
City Kitchen – Also a block away and rated as the Best Food Hall in NYC by Zagat, an indoor food market featuring 7 of New York’s most desired food concepts including the best doughnuts we’ve ever had!
